Employment is growing in both Skive Municipality and the other municipalities in Western Jutland. Skive is among the 15 municipalities in Denmark with the lowest unemployment rate. Statistics Denmark’s latest unemployment figures will document that unemployment in the Skive region hits a new low with 2.5% gross unemployed people – corresponding to the level right before the financial crisis in 2008.

Therefore, companies in the Skive region will record an increasing qualified labour shortage within several trades and fields – both when it comes to highly educated, skilled and unskilled workers.

Building and construction is running short of for example plumbers, carpenters, bricklayers, electricians, construction workers, etc. The industry is typically in need of mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and technicians, toolmakers, industrial technicians and other industrial workers, but also personnel within for instance management, economics and marketing.

The public sector is short of for example medical practitioners, nurses for both hospitals and private practices, but also staff for the health care, school and elderly care, social workers and nursery assistants, etc.
